Dinner Groups Needed for New West County Ronald McDonald House

RMHC is looking for Dinner Groups to help cook meals for families at our third St. Louis Ronald McDonald House being built in West County. Most of our families spend the day at the hospital with their children. After many exhausting hours, it is a welcome gift to return to the House and find a meal waiting for them. The new House will open in September 2010.

KTVI Channel 11 Story on 300th Ronald McDonald House

This week, KTVI Channel 11 in St. Louis visited the construction site of the third St. Louis Ronald McDonald House and the 300th in the world. While on site, they interviewed a St. Louis family who travels back and forth from St. Louis to Rochester, MN, to receive treatment at the Mayo Clinic for an undiagnosed condition. Fifteen-year-old Brendan and his family have been traveling back and forth for more than three years to receive treatment for brain lesions and seizures, each time staying at the Ronald McDonald House.

The walls are coming up at the third St. Louis Ronald McDonald House and the 300th in the world! Look at the latest construction photos:

Construction Underway on Third Ronald McDonald House in St. Louis

Construction is well underway on the third Ronald McDonald House in St. Louis and the 300th House in the world. The newest Ronald McDonald House will be located on the campus of St. John’s Mercy Children’s Hospital and will be a 20 bedroom, 3-story house encompassing 18,188
square feet.

The first floor will consist of community space (kitchen, living room, dining room, and play areas) and office space. There will also be the House Parent apartment and an overnight staff sleep room.

The second floor will have 11 bedrooms, each with a private bath and a small lounge area and the third floor will have 6 bedrooms, each with a private bath.The basement will include not only 3 additional bedrooms that can be private suites for our long-term families, but also storage, a laundry room, and a large recreational area.

With the footings and foundation complete, we anticipate things really taking off with the break in weather. Incredible support from in-kind donors and the in-kind donations continue to aid in the construction of this house.

Welcome to the new 300th Ronald McDonald House Blog

On November 20, 2009, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Metro St. Louis broke ground on the third St. Louis Ronald McDonald House and the 300th in the world!

The new House is expected to be open in September of this year. Check back to our blog to see the latest news, pictures, and updates!

This third House will help us serve more than 700 more families per year who have seriously-ill children being treated at local hospitals.
